Explanation | Milkers are sitting in an enclosure made for milking the sheep, which is called málka kótara [Bulg.]. Pails for milking can be seen under the shelter, called sáedzhek [Bulg.]. In the foreground, an elderly woman (karachér [Bulg.], driver) is driving the sheep into the fold towards the milkers. The shelter is decorated with a ritual wreath made of pine twigs. After the milking, the sheep pass into the smaller fold. |
